2 tablespoons oil
1 garlic clove, minced
1 teaspoon fresh gingerroot, minced
1/4 cup chicken stock
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
salt

Cut asparagus diagonally into 1 inch lengths. Blanch in rapidly boiling salted water. Heat wok or large skillet over moderately high heat; add oil and heat until very hot.

Add garlic and ginger and stir-fry for several seconds. Add asparagus and stir-fry to coat with oil and heat through. Add stock, soy sauce and cornstarch and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. Season to taste and serve.
